TL 96 NW PAKENHAM GRIMSTONE END
Watermill. Datestone set into brick of south gable wall has C L 1814 for
Charles Low, miller in the early C19. He apparently rebuilt the mill partly on
earlier foundations. Restored to full working order in late 1970's. 4
storeys. Tarred brick ground storey, timber-framed upper storeys, rendered on
front, weatherboarded sides. Pantiled roof with lucam on south slope. 2
small-paned sashes to ground storey and 2 doors, all with segmental arched
heads. 3 windows to upper storeys: small-paned sashes. Upper loading door has
a semi-circular fanlight. Machinery complete: internal low breast shot
waterwheel of c,19OO. 3 pairs of underdriven millstones. On first floor, a
Tattersall Midget roller mill.
