House. Early C19. 2 storeys, 3 phases of building. Gault brick, slate roofs.
Central section is earliest phase: 3 bays, end chimneys. Front with panels of
knapped flint in rusticated brick surrounds. 2 tripartite sash windows to
ground storey, 3 sashes with vertical bars to upper storey, all in shallow
reveals. Projecting enclosed flat-roofed porch with arched window-openings on
sides and 6-panel door with traceried semi-circular fanlight. Extension on
east, probably a separate house linked to the main house later: hipped roof.
Small-paned sashes in different sizes with cast iron heads and deep reveals. A
later C19 extension on west. House shown as virtually complete on Pakenham
Tithe Map, 1840 (Record Office, Bury St Edmunds).
