Description

TL 87 NE EUSTON EUSTON PARK

4/29 Stables to
14.7.55 Euston Hall.

GV II*

Stables to Euston Hall, now converted to living accommodation.
Late C17, with early C18 alterations, 2 storeys, with projecting
wings to east and west. Red brick. Steeply-pitched hipped roof,
slated: dentil cornice: triangular pediment on the south side.
The roof is surmounted by a cupola with a clock on its north and
south faces, and an open upper storey with a tented ogee roof,
topped by a ball finial and weathercock. On the south front, the
ground storey has blank arcades with Diocletian windows, some
false: on the upper storey, small-paned sash windows. On the
north front the ground storey is blank, with a mounting-block at
the east end: the upper storey has 8 small-paned sash windows,
irregularly spaced. An open archway leads through the building
from north to south: the rounded arches have heavy chamfered
rustication in stone. Inside each of the 2 wings is a late C17
geometric stair, similar in style to the stair within the house,
with turned balusters, wide balustrade, and hanging finials.
