Description

TL 87 NE EUSTON EUSTON PARK

4/36 Blackbourne
(Estate Office)
l4.7.55 (Formerly
listed as Hall
Farmhouse)

- II

Former farmhouse. C17. 2 storeys and attics. Possible timber-
framed core, but largely encased in early C19 flint: mainly
kidney flints with an admixture of red brick headers. Red brick
string course, rusticated quoins and surrounds to windows.
Plaintiles to front slope of roof, black glazed pantiles to rear
slope. An internal chimney stack with diagonally set base and 4
shafts with diaper-patterned early C19 bricks: 2 end chimney-
stacks: high copings and corbels to the gables. 3-light casement
windows, some with square leaded panes and remains of crown
glass; those on the ground storey have segmental arched heads to
the brick surrounds. 2 flat-headed dormers in the rear slope of
the roof. Enclosed, flat-roofed porch: door with 6 flush panels
and slightly pointed arch to surround and fanlight. The interior
mainly Georgian: some panelling and boxed-in beams: deep inner
splays and shutters to windows. A fine original late C17 dog-leg
stair, with turned balusters, rises the whole height of the
house. Roof with principal rafters, cambered collars and
slightly stepped butt purlins. An early C19 2-storey addition to
the rear in matching materials, with a shallow-pitched pantiled
roof.
