3/21 Church House

Former Methodist Chapel, now a house. Built by the Primitive Methodists
c.1820, extended in mid C19; ceased to be used as a chapel in 1974. Rendered
exterior, pantiled roof. The centre of the building contained the original
chapel: 2 long small-paned sash windows in flush frames to front, with a small
wooden pentice above and a small hexagonal window. To each side are small
storeyed blocks, which appear to be extensions, with small-paned cast iron
casement windows. At the south side, a late C19 4-panelled door with fluted
panels and matching cased surround. Since the building became a house, the
interior, formerly quite plain, has been embellished with various Classical
and Regency Gothic fittings, including panelling, panelled doors and a gallery
along the west wall of the former chapel area.
