STANTON
DUKE STREET
Priory Cottage

House. Early C17. One-and-a-half storeys. Timber-framed and rendered, with
a small C19 extension at the east end with shallow-pitched roof. Pantiles. A
small single-storey lean-to on the north side now contains the entry. Now 2-
cell internal chimney plan, but originally with a 3rd unit: the frame was cut
back at the east end before the brick extension was put on. An internal
chimney-stack with a rebuilt shaft, rendered. Casement windows, mainly C20.
Good quality framing exposed inside: widely-spaced studding with arched braces
to long and side walls. 5 bays. Timber lintel over fireplace and exposed
ceiling-beams in central room. Remains of several original windows on upper
storey, including a 5-light diamond-mullioned window on the north wall. Side
