2/31 Vine Cottage Nos. 1 & 2.


House, now divided into 2 cottages. One-and-a-half storeys; 3-cell plan.
Timber-framed and plastered with thatched roof; internal chimney-stack with a
plain red brick shaft; a single-storey lean-to along the rear wall. 2-light
small-paned casement windows, and one gabled dormer with fluted bargeboards.
The 2 main ground-storey rooms have main beams with scroll-stops, decorated
with jewel and small groove; joists set on edge. The eastern (service) bay
has no main beam and poorer joists, but does not seem to be an addition. Roof
ceiled-off at collar level: no principal rafters; side purl ins visible in
gable ends.
