Description

TL 96 SW ROUGHAM

5/32 Lawney's Farmhouse
-

- II

Former farmhouse. C16 and C17. 2 storeys: main range and cross-wing form.
Timber-framed and rendered; roofs partly with black-glazed pantiles, partly
C20 plaintiles; hipped cross-wing. An internal chimney-stack to the main
range with 2 attached square shafts set diagonally. Random late C20
fenestration: casement windows. With the exception of the roof, which is a
C20 renewal, the frame of the cross-wing is complete: plain, heavy joists, set
flat and unchamfered, to the ground floor ceiling. The ground floor of the
main range has joists set on edge and fine complex C17 stops to the main beam,
with double jewels. Plain roof, with one row of stepped butt purlins. The
building is in an isolated position and is semi-derelict.
