Early C18 pair of cottages remodelled 1976-8. 2 storeys. 2 windows mansard roof
plain tiles above, pantiles below. Colour-washed brick with plain band at 1st floor
level and modern modillion eaves cornice. Gauged flat brick arches to 3-light
casement windows. Former shopfront of No 53 replaced by 'period' Shop window.
No 53, new ½ glazed door No 55 former doorway blocked and replaced by new
entrance on return
