Public house. Late C16 with early C19 wing to right hand side of original 'L' plan indicated by C16 projecting gable to left hand end. Two storeys. Timber framed and plastered with colour washed brick face to C19 wing; plain tiled roof with decorative barge boards. Red brick stack of squared diagonally set detached chimneys. Central gable with three sided oriel window, casements with semi circular transome; at ground floor there is a three sided bay with sashes in flush frames and glazing bars and cornice over. C19 wing has sash windows in flush frames with glazing bars and gauged flat arches. Main entrance door is blocked up and has pilasters and bracketed canopy. Lion's head sign c.1740 is said to be ship's figure head from battle of Sole Bay.
Interior has ornamental plaster ceiling.
