Formerly known as Ashe Abbey House.
House, formerly purported to be the frater and dorter of the chaplaincy for
the Canons to the Priory. C14, exterior much remodelled C20. Interior
contains C14 raised aisled hall, originally of 3 bays one of which has been
demolished possibly C19. Red brick and some original stone with plain tiled
roof. 2 storeys mostly open hall with C20 dormer lighting upper part of hall.
Scattered fenestration: all C20 casements. C20 entrance door with side-light.
The interior contains a very finely worked example of C14 carpentry: a
cambered tie beam spanniing 35 feet, supports octagonal queen posts with
finely moulded caps and bases with braces, struts and arcaded windbracing:
Plain crown postwith collar and collar purlin. There is also some later
panelling and a 4 centred arched stone fireplace. For a fuller description of
