Description

TM 36 NW BRUISYARD LOW ROAD

4/23 Sandpit Farmhouse
-

- II

Farmhouse. A mid C18 rebuilding of an earlier house, possibly as the result
of a fire. Red brick; hipped plaintiled roof with slates to the lower courses;
some pantiles to rear wing. 2 storeys. 6 windows, 2-light and 3-light mullion
and transom casements; 2 doorways: to the left hand side a 6-panel fielded
door, broad architrave; to the right hand side a 4-panel door. The left hand
doorway and the 2 windows to either side have flat gauged brick arches with
raised keys; to the left hand side of the right hand doorway is a blocked
doorway with a similar arch. Brick band at first floor level, moulded brick
eaves cornice. 2 internal stacks. The roof over the short rear wing at the
right hand end is C16 but appears to have been damaged by fire.
