Former open hall house with cross wings to north and south, latterly
subdivided into tenements; now 3 holiday homes. Late C15; south wing altered
and extended to south early C17; considerably restored 1971-2 when the first
floor of the hall was removed. Timber framed and plastered with exposed
framing to the hall and the upper jettied floors of each cross wing; the later
part to the south is partly faced in red brick; plaintiled roof except south
wing and adjoining later addition which are pantiled. 2 storeys. Mainly mid
C20 casement windows; the original tall mull ioned hall windows have been
exposed, but are much restored. Mid C20 plank door to cross passage of hall;
2 mid C20 boarded doors to later part. One original 3-light diamond mullion
window to rear of south wing, with others renewed. A stack inserted between
the hall and the north wing has been partly removed. Open truss of hall has
octagonal crown post with moulded cap and base; 2 service doorways with carved
spandrels. Referred to as 'The Newe Inne" in deeds from 1478 to C18.
