Two houses, formerly farmhouse. Late C18/early C19. Red Flemish bond
brick with a plain tile roof. A pair of houses, originally both similar,
now with slight differences. Two storeys. Road front: symmetrical
arrangement of two houses, each having a front of two bays. The right hand
cottage has a ground floor doorway to its centre with panelled door
surround which has gadrooning to the sides and lintel and roundels to the
top corners. This contains a 6-panel door of which the lower two panels
are flush and the upper 4 raised and fielded. To either side of this at
ground floor level are 3-light casement windows with cambered heads and
wooden sills and there are two similar lateral windows to the first floor.
The left hand cottage was originally similar but the central doorway which
had a cambered head, has now been blocked. To the ridge are gable chimney
stacks at right and left and one central axial stack. The right hand gable
end has two C20 two-light casement windows to the ground floor and one
right hand gable window. A later outshut at right has ramped walling to
its top and and 3-light C20 casement window at left and a 1/2-glazed doorway
at right. The left hand end has a projecting C20 chimney-stack at centre.
To the ground floor at right is a 2-light C20 casement window and there is
a 1/2-glazed doorway at left. Single-light gable window at left. Outshut at
right. Rear: projecting gabled wing at left, a later addition which has to
its right flank a 4-light casement window at left and a 2-light window to
right of that. Above these is a 2-light first floor window and at right a
2-light mezzanine window with moulded glazing bars and Y-tracery. To left
of this gabled wing is a late-C19 outshut at ground floor level with one 3-
light, one 2-light and two single-light casement windows.
