House. C17 with C19 and C20 additions. Timber framed with colourwashed
render and a thatched roof. Single storey with attic. Two-cell baffle
entry plan with additions. Entrance front: (originally the rear). Single
storey C19 addition at right which has a cambered-headed 1/2-glazed door at
left and a cambered-headed window of 3x3 panes at right. The C17 body of
the building is at left of this and has a plinth of C20 bricks with
rendered walling above. Slightly projecting portion at right which is
blank at ground floor level and to left of this is a 4-light ground floor
casement and a 3-light C20 metal casement at far left. To the attic are 3
gabled dormer windows, each of 2 casement lights. The left hand gable end
has a lean-to to its lower body with a 3-light C20 casement window and a
single-light window to the first floor. The right hand gable end has a 3-
light ground floor casement window at left with C20 lean-to addition to the
right with a flat roof and there is a 2-light window to the gable. Above
this at ground floor level are, at far left, a 2-light window and a single-
light casement window arranged in close formation and set in brick walling.
To the right of this are one ground floor casement window of 4x3 panes and
a doorway to left of centre and at right again a 2-light window. The attic
has two 2-light gabled dormer windows. Ridge chimney stack to right of
centre.
Interior: to the ground floor are exposed studded walls with blocked
windows, jowled wall posts and through bracing. Chamfered ceiling beams
with stepped run-out stops and a chimney bressumer of similar form. Close
studding and angle braces at first floor level also. Formerly the house of
the artist Anna Zinkeisen, whose studio (not included in this list) stands
c.3 yards to the north-east of the house.
