Two cottages, formerly rectory. Late C15 with later additions and
alterations. Timber framed with colourwashed render and a brick skin in
parts and a pantile roof (probably originally thatched). H-shaped plan.
Road front: projecting wings at either side, the front has entirely C20
fenestration with metal-framed windows. The right hand wing has, to its
ground floor one 3-light and one 2-light casement and at first floor level
one 3-light casement. Between these wings to the ground floor are, at
right, a 3-light window and at left a 2-light window and to the first floor
two 3-light casements. To the left hand gable end are, at right, a plank
door and to left of this a four-light casement set in brick walling and the
first floor has a 3-light casement. Adjoining the left hand gable is a
lean-to. The ridge of the right hand gabled wing is at a slightly lower
level than the rest of the roof and the right hand end of the spinal ridge
is slightly hipped to take account of this. Chimney stack of 3 flues of
C19 brick below the ridge and at right. The right hand gable end has
slightly battered walling, a C20 half-glazed door at right and a single-
light window at right of centre to the first floor. The left hand side
has, at ground floor right, a lean-to. Rear: the left hand wing projects
but the right hand wing is flush with the central range. C19 outshut
running along the rear, flush with the projecting face of the left hand
wing. This has C20 fenestration. The right hand wing, which is partially
masked by the outshut, has a 2-light ground-floor casement at right. To
the first floor at right is one 3-light window and at left a single-light
window. The left hand gable has one 3-light and two single-light casements
at ground floor level and a 3-light casement to the first floor.

Interior: chamfered ceiling beams to one ground floor room in the left
hand cross-wing, with chamfered joists between. One ground floor room to
the central range in No.2 has ceiling joists with angle beads and a
massive, richly-moulded beam with cavetto moulds to the underside, roll
mouldings to the corners and sides and a cavetto mould above these, also to
the sides. The joists continue to the ceilings of No.1. Close studded
walling to the ground and first floors and jowled wall posts at first floor
level.
