10/131 Women's Institute
Row of 3 cottages, now converted for use as a meeting hall. C16 or C17
with C19 additions and alterations. Flemish bond brick with C20 plain tile
roof, originally thatched. Two cottages now knocked through to form a hall
office and lavatories, one retained as kitchen and storage. Single storey
with attic. Entrance front: Early-C19 walling. The 2 cottages at right
have a higher ridge than that at left. Three doorways with cambered heads
having plank doors set at right of centre, right and left. Cambered-headed
2-light windows to far right, far left and right of centre. To left of the
near-central doorway are 3 windows, one at left with a cambered head of 2
casement lights which was formerly a doorway, now partially bricked up. To
right of this is a 2-light casement with flat-arched head and at right of
this a single-light window-with similar head. Two raking dormer windows to
the attic, that at left has 4x3 sash panes, that at right having 7x3 panes,
both of C20 date. Ridge chimney stack at right with 2 pots. Single-flued
stack to the left hand cottage. Gable end at left and 1/2-hipped roof at
right. Right hand gable end: projecting brick plinth and rendered
walling. Left hand gable end: similar with single-light cambered-headed
light to the gable. Rear: rendered save for the plinth which shows C16
bricks with later patching in C19 bricks and cement blocks. Single-light
windows to extreme right and left and 2-light C20 window to left of centre
and 3-light C19 casement at right.

Interior: Wall posts to rear wall and blocked window, chamfered tie beams
and ceiling beams.
