TM 47 SW THORINGTON

3/36 Stable block to Thorington

Stable block. Dated 1826 on the interior clock mechanism. Red brick faced with
white brick, slated roof. Symmetrical facade with 2 storey centre block set
forwards and single storey wings. 2 window range to each wing, small pane
casements; 2 doorways to extreme left and right hand sides, each with boarded
door and rectangular fanlight. Centre block with segmental arched carriage
entrance, brick band at springing level; within the entrance are 4 doorways,
each with, boarded door, 2 with slatted rectangular fanlights; shallow pyramidal
roof surmounted by square wooden clock turret with domed roof, weathervane and
clock face to front. Thorington Hall was demolished in the late 1940's.
