Gamekeeper's lodge for Thorington Hall estate. Circa 1820, with later
alterations and considerable additions. Original building was a 2 storey
rectangle with chamfered corners and single storey semi-circular wings to each
of the long sides. Small flint pebbles, painted brick dressings, thatched
roofs. 2-light casement windows, those to the ends of the main block with
chamfered heads; one doorway to each semi-circular wing: one half-glazed door
and one 4-panel door, the upper 2 panels glazed, with thatched hood. Main
block with plinth and brick band at first floor level; both wings with
plastered plinth; the unaltered wing with a plaster band at eaves level, the
other wing with a plastered flat-roofed first floor addition. The main block
has a central internal stack with 2 square flues set diagonally. Late C19 and
C20 extensions to west.
