TM 37 SE BRAMFIELD THE STREET (west side)
9/16 The Haywards (previously
listed as The Mount)
House. Probably late C17 with early C18 wing to rear. L shape plan. Red
brick with rusticated brick quoins, moulded brick band at first floor level and
moulded brick eaves cornice; pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 5 window
range, various casements, segmental arches; the ground floor has some original
windows with square leaded panes, the 2 to the right hand side having been
coupled together; central doorway with moulded brick architrave, frieze and
cornice, original 2-panel door and moulded doorframe incorporating rectangular
fanlight; internal stack with vertical band of moulded bricks to the front.
The right hand gable has a moulded brick band above the attic window (left hand
gable not visible). C19 lean-to to right hand side with one re-used C17 leaded
window. Rear wing single storey and attic, the roof partly missing.
