Description

TM 37 NW CHEDISTON

2/5 Mountpleasant Farmhouse
25.10.51
- II

Farmhouse. Dated 1635 in wrought iron letters on stack; later service wing to
rear. Timber framed, roughcast render; roof plaintiled to front and pantiled
to rear. 2 storeys and attic. 2 cell form. The main range has 3 original
ovolo-moulded mullion and transom windows at first floor level, a
comparatively rare survival on a farmhouse: the window on the left hand gable
has a later bracketed sill, the others retain original moulded sills. Other
windows are C18-C19 casements. Boarded entrance door. At the rear is a lobby
entrance with C19 6-panel raised and fielded door and an original mullioned
window. Central internal stack with rebuilt sawtooth hexagonal flues and
inset panels to front and rear.
