5/64 Heveningham High House
25.10.51 (previously listed as
Highfields (The Barracks))

House. C16. L shape plan plus a small lower addition to tile north. Timber
framed and plastered, plaintiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. Various casement
windows, some with C20 square leaded glass. On the north side of the main
range is a C20 lean-to porch with a plank door. The main range has a heavy
square internal stack; external stack to gable end of south wing. The
addition to the north of the main range has 2 original mullioned windows at
first floor level. At one time called The Barracks: the name Barracke is
locally associated with its use by Cromwell.
