Description

TM 36 SW FRAMLINGHAM

3/1 Boundary Farmhouse
-

- II

Former farmhouse. C16 core, with mid-C19 extension and alterations. 2
storeys and attics; 2 wings extend on the south side, giving a half-H form.
Timber-framed; encased in C19 colour-washed brick, apart from the gables of
the wings, which are rendered. Plaintiled roofs; gables with fluted
bargeboards. An internal red brick chimney-stack, with pilaster strips and a
dentil cornice to the shaft. Large-paned sash windows to the main range;
various casement windows to the wings. Enclosed gabled porch; door with 4
sunk panels. The east wing and the central range appear to be the oldest part
of the house, with the west wing as a C19 addition: one main beam has a large
chamfer and curved stops; a few plain ceiling-beams exposed.
