House, part C16, part C20. The present cross-wing, at right-angles to the
road, formed the original house, with a 2-cell end-chimney plan. 2 storeys
and attics. Timber-framed and rendered; clay pantiles. External chimney-
stack, in old red brick with 2 diagonally set square shafts, rebuilt. 2-
light and 3-light casement windows, some old. The timbers, exposed
internally, are plain, with good studding; on the ground floor, an original
partition between the 2 rooms has been moved. On the upper floor, very heavy
reversed braces in the ends of the long walls and one blocked mullion window.
The roof-bays correspond to the wall-bays: clasped side purlins, diminished
principals, and the remains of windbraces. The main range, a C20 rebuilding
in traditional style, is not included in the listing.
