TM 25 NW CLOPTON MARTINS LANE

4/160 Barn 2 and 3 SE of
Moat Farmhouse
GV II

Pair of barns. Circa C18 and later C18. Weatherboarded timber frame
on brick plinth. Gable ended roof clad in corrugated iron sheets. 5 -
bay barn to north with circa later C18 3- bay barn extension on south
end. Later outshuts.
Interior:- Wall framing has studs and long straight tension braces but
no midrail. Unjowled wall posts with curved knee braces replace braces
to tie-beams. Main trusses and intermediate trusses all with straight
collars and tow tiers of staggered butt purlins. Common rafters
without ridgeboard. Barn in 3-bay extension at south end with roughly
constructed clasped purlin roof, large tie-beams with knee braces,
common rafters with ridge-board, unjowled posts and wall framing with
studs and long straight tension braces.
