GV II

Almshouse pair. Circa 1912 by Sir Mervyn Macartney. Red brick with plinth and
plat band. Coved cornice to pyramidal, plain tiled roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays with
2 casements on the first floor. Those to ground floor arched with keystones, the
right hand one blocked with inset casements, the left hand one forming an entrance
arch. Linked to Nos. 35-43 Circle Road.
Whiteley Village was laid out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson, employing
leading architects of the day, and was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's
stores.
