Almshouse pair. Circa 1912. Probably by Sir Reginald Blomfield. Red brick with
hipped tiled roof and two tall stacks at each end of ridge. 1 storey. 6 irregular
bays with 2 oculi in centre flanked by casement windows and with segment-headed
entrance arches in outer bays. Wall surface breaks forward in centre and window
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores for thrifty
old folk and was laid out on octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson , employing leading
architects of the day.
