Pair of K3 telephone kiosks. Designed 1929. Concrete, painted stone colour with
red glazing bars. Square kiosks with domed roofs; sides and doors divided into 3
x 6 panels. One kiosk has translucent opals lettered 'TELEPHONE'; those of the other
kiosk have been removed. Unlike most other types of kiosk there are no crowns to
the top panels. These two kiosks are rare survivals, having been recovoed from the
Royal Exchange in London and brought to this site; the only other currently known
K3 kiosks (in 1987) are those at London Zoo and in the Science Museum.
