8/12 Garrison Church of
St. Barbara


Church,1900. Whitewashed corrugated iron with grey corrugated metal roof,
wood and metal spire. Cruciform plan with nave and pent roof aisles, transepts
and apsidal chancel to east, narthex to west end. 3 dormer windows in nave
roof on north and south sides, 4 arched triangular trefoil clerestory windows
below. Two-light Y tracery windows to aisles; east and west windows and
transept windows with similar Y tracery. Small spire to west with gabled
openings to base, boarded plinth below. Arched double doors to west in half
glazed narthex with arched leaded windows.

Interior:- 5 bay arcades, largest bay to east. Braced posts and cross braced
wooden roof trusses. Boarded walls. 20 fittings including twin pulpits.
Octagonal stone font on whitewashed stem column with foliage capital. Stained
glass windows in chancel from Portobello Barracks Chapel Dublin and re-erected
