TQ 44NW LINGFIELD C.P. HAXTED ROAD

House. C15 extended in C17 and further extended to rear in late C19/early C20.
Timber framed on coursed stone plinth, rendered infill to exposed framing.
Plain tiled roofs, restored, with Horsham slabs over connecting wing to rear.
Offset end stacks to front, rebuilt stacks to rear with beehive tops. H plan.
2 storeys, 4 framed bays across front range; first floor jettied on moulded
bressumer. Irregular fenestration of wood framed mullioned leaded casements,
a mixture of old and new. 5 windows across first floor, all 3-light, six across
ground floor including 3 mullioned and transomed windows. Planked door to left
of centre in gabled timber frame porch. Right hand return front:- Pent roofed
extension across ground floor, two gabled ranges with 2 storey gabled porch to
left of centre with billeted beam over ground floor. Ribbed and studded Tudor
style door in moulded surround. Oriel window over with wooden tracery lights
and angel figure to bottom of bracket. Scalloped carved and, pierced, bargeboards
to gable. Late c19/c20 parallel range to ream- Incomplete wealden type jettied
on first floor left. Moulded bressumer over ground floor. Right hand bay not
finished.

House undergoing complete restoration at time of re-survey.
