Description

1.
5118 MANGOTSFIELD RURAL DIBDEN LANE
Two barns to south-west
of Dibden Farmhouse
(eastern and central
sections of range)
ST 67 NE 2/178A 4.5.79.
II Gv
2.
Oldest part of a range of burns to south-west of Dibden Farmhouse. Probably
of C17 or even late C16 origins, and once probably domestic. Two storeys,
rubble with pantile roof, central section with stone base tiles, appears
C18. Two slit windows to north and central door. Eastern section has
roof trusses braced from floor-beams (this appears to have been an afterthought
because the braces have been strained out of shape); a number of wind braces
survive. Central section has conventional tie beam roof-trusses, and lean-to
shed to north; south wall obscured. Gable ends of eastern section may
originally have been timber framed.
