House. Early C17 with mid C18 alterations and C20 restorations and extensions to
rear and left. Red brick, plain tiled parallel range roofs with 4 fine diagonal
stacks to left end and across rear. Entrance front: 2 storeys and attic under 4
hipped roof casement dormers, brick plat band over ground floor and stringcourse to
base of parapet. 4 bays with angle bays rising through two storeys to outer ends,
glazing bar sash windows under gauged heads. Central double glazed doors in chanelle
Doric pilaster surround and entablature with dentilled segmental pediment above.
Single storey extension to left end with stone mullioned and transomed window. Right
hand return front: 3 gables with brick coping and valley finials. Central rusticated
entrance frontispiece breaking forward with rich 6 panel door in egg and dart surroun
with flanking Doric pilasters supporting pediment. C20 wing to rear right.

Interior: Features include: fine panelled hall with moulded ceiling and rich Jacobean
fireplace. Wooden flanking figures on pedestals supporting coved lintel with 3 bay
overmantel articulated by foliage capital, scroll-decorated, columns, female figures
in arched niches flank central Coat of Arms, with strapwork cresting above. Further
fine C17 fireplaces survive including one with Dutch tiles; staircase with foliage
scroll tread ends and turned balusters. Panelled doors to landing and Regency
bookcases in library.
