SU 94 NE COMPTON C. P. POLSTEAD LANE

14.6.67 (formerly listed as Polstead
Manor Cottage)

Former Manor house. C16, extended to left in C19 and C20. Timber
framed, exposed in gable to right with brown brick infill, red and brown
brick cladding on remainder. Tile hung to first floor right with plain
tiled roofs above, half hipped to left. Two storeys on tall plinth with
basement, attic to left hand return front under hipped roof dormer.
T-shaped plan with cross wing to right. Square ridge stack to left of
centre and end stack to right. Three casements on first floor and four
windows below, two to right three-light, diamond pane, leaded casements
under brick cambered relieving arches. Ribbed door to left of centre
in gabled C20 timber and brick porch approached up a flight of eight
steps.

Right hand return front: Sandstone rubble.

Rear: Catslide extension to roof with two tile hung dormers above.
