Maori Meeting House. Late C19, bought by Lord Onslow in c.1892 and carved by Wero.
Timber framed with gabled roof thatched with bamboo/reeds, walls clad in similar
materials and brightly painted. Gable-end entrance front with wall recessed.
Thick "bargeboards" with feather and scroll type patterning central male figure to
gable apex. One sash window with margin-light glazing to left, panelled door to
right.
Interior:- wall posts and ceiling rafters painted and carved.
Original Maori name for the meeting house was: Hinemihi.
