Ebenezer Baptist Chapel

II

Ebenezer Strict Baptist Chapel. 1812 for William Meryett. Stuccoed brick,
Welsh slate roof. Single-storey 2-bay chapel with lean-to vestry at either
side. Each vestry has a panelled door in wood frame. Two sashes with glazing
bars flank raised plaque which reads "AD 1812/Ebenezer Strict Baptist Chapel".
Stepped eaves. Rear: two windows as front flank truncated and capped lateral
stack. Interior: White marble memorial tablet commemorates the founder, William
Meryett, d.1845. Fielded-panelled pulpit brought here c1950 from the Strict
Baptist Chapel, Aylesbury, Bucks, as also the later C19 pews; part of original
1812 pulpit set at back of pulpit having quatrefoils above pointed arched panels.
