Bus Company Offices 1931-2. For East Surrey Traction Company ("Bell Street", p.114).
Red-brown brick in English bond variant; plain tile roof. 2 storeys with attic
of 2 levels. 9 bays, the left bay canted at angle. 1st floor bond. Wide 3-light
multi-pane windows (sashes and casements) with stone cills, single-light to right
bay, attic dormers with flat leaded roofs. Entrance, in 2nd bay from right, has
projecting, flat-roofed porch with stepped parapet with double board door under
stepped, segmental brick arch. To its left, projecting stair tower rises through
roof and has 3 slit windows below full-height mullion - and - transom window in
triple-recessed segmental-brick-arched surround with stepped cill; the top portion
of tower has chamfered corners and soldier-brick coping, and above it is similarly-coped
offset stage; offset stack to front roof pitch above to left. 2 short dormers
only to upper attic level. Roof hipped at right end.

Right return: 5 bays. On ground floor, central raised panel with recessed segmental
archway containing window and flanked by 2-light casements; small-pane sashes above;
large, transomed 5-light dormer to lower attic level with smaller above.

Interior not inspected.

(Later C20 wing attached to left not included in item.) This office block was built
by the East Surrey Traction Company prior to its absorption into London Transport.
