Barn. Late C17 incorporating former end of C16 barn, altered c1973. Timber
frame with c1973 weatherboarding on plinth of brick and some sandstone rubble;
plain tile roof. 4-bay C17 barn linked by 1-bay to truncated end-bay of C16
barn on right. Cart-entry, to bay 3 has outer posts of original cart door fixed
in position and with c1973 double board doors hung from them. Former opposing
cart door, at rear, boarded across. Left return: double cart door on right.
Interior: C17 barn has large scantling unjowelled wall-posts with long braces
to tie-beams, those flanking cart-entry arched, others straight; 4 collared queen-
post roof trusses with staggered butt purlins; long raking wind braces; old rafters.
Right-hand, C16, bay has large-scantling, jowelled wall-posts with arched braces
to wall-plate and added straight braces to tie-beam replacing former arched braces;
mortices in soffit of tie-beam from former end wall. Right-hand end wall of
brick with vertical boarding in gable.
Late C20 shelter attached to rear, and c1900 brick addition attached to right
are not included in listing.
