Churtgate House

(Also known as Church Gate House).
L-shaped house. The oldest portion is probably the east wing which dates
from the late C16 or early C17. Sandstone rubble with a gable having a
pentice on its west side. Round-headed doorway beneath the pentice with
brick pilasters and cornice. The space above the doorway is also brick.
Chimney breast of brick and stone rubble on the east wall. 2 storeys.
1 window. To the west is a red brick addition of the mid-late C17.
2 storeys and attic. 2 windows. 2 hipped dormers. Stringcourse above
each floor. Tiled roof and 3-light casement windows with diamond-shaped
leaded panes to the whole. At the extreme west end is a further, modern
addition of 1 window bay with a gable over. Also modern wing behind to
