Listing Text

11/72 Osbrooks

House. C17, extended to right and restored in early C20 by Detmar Blow. Timber
framed with herringbone brick infilling, C20 extensions in similar style, plain
tiled roofs. Original house half-H shaped with projecting end wings, now with
projecting extensions to right and left. Two storeys, extensions to left single
storey. Corbelled diagonal stacks on ridge plinths, triple to left of centre,
double and single copies in ends of right hand extension and to ridge of left
hand end. Queen-post trusses to gable ends; diamond-pane leaded casement
fenestration, one window on each floor of left hand gable and right hand gable.
Gabled square bay projecting shallowly from large,gabled bay to right of centre
with one 3-light,diamond-pane first floor and one 6-light,mullioned and tran-
somed window on ground floor. Two, 2-light first floor windows under eaves, left
of centre,and one 3-light window to ground floor. Central,gabled,single storey
porch with turned balusters over plinth walls on sides; studded door. Single
storey range to left with gable window and gable over diamond-pane window on
return wall. Two storey range to right with square-bay motif under gable,on
larger scale porch with further door in angle with old house. Rear:- triple
diagonal stacks to left and right. Galleted sandstone blocks and plinth walls,
moulded brick-on-edge plat bands over ground floor. Some old glass and original
frames to rear windows.
