Park Gate Cottage

Cottage. C17 with C19 extensions and remodelling, restored in the C20. Bargate
stone rubble with brick quoins to angles, some stone blocks with galleting to
right, machine tiled roofs. Two storeys with attic to left under C19 tiled
gabled dormer with pierced,trefoil-section bargeboards. Two stacks to right of
centre. Lower gabled range to right, projecting, with fishscale tile hanging on
gable and bellcast over the ground floor. One 3-light diamond-pane casement
window on each floor in central break back, pentice over ground floor window.
Two first floor windows to left, one ground floor window to left under pentice
hood. Door to left of centre in steep gabled C19 porch with C20 tiled roof,
pendant finial and arrowhead coping on heavy bargeboards. Left hand return
front:- cusped bargeboards with roundel ends. Deep eaves and tiled bellcast to
base of gable. One first floor and two ground floor windows, that to left under
pentice hood. Oriel window to right.
Included for group value as one of a group around the Village Green.
