Barn with attached stable and cowhouse. Barn probably C18 reusing earlier timbers;
stable and cowhouse C19 the stable probably early-mid, the cowhouse late C19.
All altered. Barn timber-framed with weatherboard cladding on brick plinth; cow-
house similar but with brick ground floor; stable of red brick with blue headers
in Flemish bond. Plain tile roofs. 5-bay barn with l-bay stable on left and
5-bay cowhouse with loft over to right. Barn has central cart entry with double
board door; on left a later board stable door with side-light and blocked loading
door above to its right; on right a board door and a hatch with loading door above.
Stable has board stable door with 2-light window to its left under continuous
timber lintel; stepped dentilled eaves; roof hipped on left. Cowhouse has central
raked brick buttress with a board hatch to either side and at left end steps up
to a board door. Rear: weatherboard of barn and cowhouse partly gone. Barn has
opposing central cart entry and loading door on left. Cow-house is open-fronted.
On right, C20 gabled addition to rear of stable is not of special interest.
Interior: barn has good, large-scanting framing; most of the wall posts are
jowelled but some are unjowelled and some members are held in place by metal straps
rather than pegged; braces are arched, double-curved and straight; each roof truss
has both queen posts and queen struts (all curved) supporting through purlins,
the principal rafters reducing in size above purlins; intermediate collars; curved
wind braces. In left bays a stable has been partitioned off. In state of
disrepair at time of inspection.
