C19 front with a timber-framed Wing behind. Street front of two storeys, three window bays (central first floor opening blocked). Capped panelled parapet. Stuccoed front. Sash windows in reveals without glazing bars on first floor; on ground floor, C20 plate-glass shop front. Return wall of painted brick with half-hipped gable end of tile roof over. Behind this, a short, much lower timber-framed wing with square panels of timber-framing and infilling above a plastered sill. Short wing with slightly lower frontage built on behind this; gable end faces east; corbelling on coroner.

All the listed buildings on the East Side from Nos 44 to 57A form a group.
