angle of south aisle and
chapel of Church of
St Peter and St Paul

Chest tomb. c.1843. Ashlar. In Neo-Classical style. Podium with roll-moulded
edge. Plinth; fluted attached columns to corner supporting entablature with
raised-flower decoration to frieze; segmental pediment to each side with scroll
decoration to tympana and acroteria with anthemia at corners. Sides are
pulvinated and each has oval panel with fluted edge and decorated spandrels, the
panels bearing commemorative inscriptions: on south side, to Clara, daughter of
John and Hannah Simmonds, d.1843; on east side to their sons, Frederick, d.1843
and Edward, d.1845; on north and west sides, to other family members.
