Former Skinners' Hall and shops, now commercial premises. Dated 1836. For
James Moon (Coombs, p.15). Red brick in Flemish bond; Welsh slate roof. 2
storeys; 17 bays with slightly projecting 5-bay centre and 4-bay ends. Central
round-arched carriageway having imposts and keystone with date and Skinners'
Coat of Arms. On its right, no 37 has a house front with doorway under
console-bracketed hood flanked by flat-brick-arched C20 windows. Other
properties have shop fronts, no 25's having old frame but altered glazing; no
27's C20; no 29 and no 31's an excellent original coupled shop front having
panelled base to multipane windows which are flanked by the doorways, no 31's
with decorative glazing bars to overlight, no 29's overlight plain, both doors
with panelled bases, pilasters supporting fascia board with flanking consoles
and cornice; no 33's a C20 shop front; nos 39, 41 and 43's C20 but retaining C19
pilasters surmounted by consoles. On 1st floor windows are sashes with glazing
bars in reveals with projecting cills and flat brick arches. No 31 has clock.
At each end of range, a plaque with the Skinners' Coat of Arms. Roof over-
sailing and supported on brackets at projecting sections. Ridge stacks. Rear:
segmental-arched windows, a number with 16-pane sashes.
No 43 now part of nos 45 and 47A (The Table Top Shop, q.v.).
