GV II

House, now divided. Circa 1870. Ironstone rubble with buff coloured stock brick
dressings and quoining, Welsh slate roofs, some slates laid in scalloped bands,
with "fleur-de-lys" ridge cresting. Complicated plan with gables on all sides,
large "Tudor" style stoneware terracotta stacks, octagonal and round with moulded
decoration, on plinths, to centre and ends of roofs. Wooden lantern to centre
under turret roof and scrolled weathervane, trefoil openings on each face. Largely
two storeys, built into hillside, with attics on south and east fronts facing the
lane.
South West Front:- Large gable to centre with decorative pierced, wavy-edge barge-
boards, gable set back to left. One triangular head attic window to main gable in
quoined brick surround and with lozenge shaped, cast-iron tracery. Cambered head
attic window to left gable and three cambered head first floor windows to centre/
right with similar glazing. Shallow 10-light angle bay range extending across
ground floor centre under slate roof, 2-storey C20 square bay to left.
North West Front:- (facing terraces) one large gable to centre with cast iron
casement window under triangular head. Plat band over ground floor right, two
glazing bar sashes below. Glazed casement doors to left in re-entrant angle with
wing projecting to left, under flat porch hood.
South East Front:- 3 gables, centre one projecting, largest to right. Triangular
head attic window with lozenge shaped glazing to centre gable. Hip-roofed bay
rising through two floors below with one 5-light first floor window and one 6-light
ground floor window, under cambered head in brick surrounds and with patterned
glazing bars. One similar two-light first floor casement to left. Two 2-light
second floor, cambered head casements to right hand gable, one 7-light casement
to first floor, all with decorative glazing bars. Two hip-roofed, angle bay windows
to ground floor. Door set back in re-entrant angle on left hand front. C20
extensions to rear.
