Church. C13, C15 porch to north, restored in C19 by Garling. Mortar rendered
rubblestone with stone dressings,coursed Bargate stone on porch and snecked
Bargate stone by south aisle. Plain tiled roofs, hipped over coved eaves to
west end, boarded belfry above under shingled broach spire. Nave with north
porch, belfry and spire to west, Chancel to east and aisle with vestry to south.
One louvred opening in each face of belfry to west end, with C19 lancet and plate
tracery windows to west end of nave and south aisle. C13 lancet window and C15
double light windows on north side with foiled heads, those to east under labels.
Well detailed, C15, 3-light window to east, possibly inserted by the Bishop of
Winchester's masons. Arched priests door in round arched surround to north wall
of chancel. C15 gabled porch to north under ridge crestings, half-open with
cusped and foiled arched lights over walls. Round-arched wooden doorcase to
north door, cusped bargeboards and plain, crown post type roof to porch.
Interior:- 4 bay kingpost roof to nave. C19 roof to south aisle. C19 arcade to
south on C19 round piers with moulded capitals, simple chamfered arches. Massive
timbers of belfry tower to west end, braced, and bonded to outer walls, although
forming independent frame. Giant lambs tongue stops to chamfering on main posts.
Fittings:- C19 stone, octagonal font on panelled stem, each panel of bowl with
double arched lancet panel. C19 stained glass.
