3/52 The Hop House
House. 1870, restored in C20. Sandstone rubble with brick quoins and dressings
on ground floor, timber framed above with herringbone brick infill, whitewashed
render infill and some patterned tile hanging above, restored plain tiled roof.
Two storeys and attic. First floor projecting very slightly over brackets,with
drip hood over all of the ground floor. Some decorative diamond,ogee,framing under
the windows on the first floor, moulded "cornice" band over,to even shallow
projection of attic above with similar drip board. Street front of three gabled,
3-light leaded casements to attic with diagonal cross frame in apron below. Three,
3-light leaded casements to first floor and one 4-light mullioned and transomed
window to either side on ground floor - under common lintel with leaded, glazed
cambered head casement doors to ends.
Left hand return front - now entrance front: Tile hung gable end. One first floor
and two ground floor cambered head C20 casements. Lower sandstone range of two
storeys to left with brick dressed casement windows. Gabled half-glazed porch with
brick infill to timber posts to centre of ground floor.
