House. 1897 by Alfred Powell of the Artworkers' Guild in rustic style. Bargate
sandstone blocks and rubblestone with thatched roofs under ridge decorations and
with 'bonnet' ends. T-shaped plan. L-shaped on entrance front. Single storey
with attics under 'eyebrow' dormers and gable ends. Square brick stack at
junction of ranges. Leaded casement fenestration with stone-framed windows on
ends of wings to left. One 2-light casement window on return wall of wing,
dormer window to left of re-entrant angle, one dormer to right. Ground floor
recessed to right with two 2-light casement windows. Door to left in angle of
two ranges and further door to right in chamfered surround. Left hand return
front:- Three 'eyebrow' dormers and rounded gabled bay to right of centre. One
large 5-light leaded window to ground floor left. Horsham slab roofed wing
projecting to left with hipped dormer and side stack. Glazed-in recess to right,
pentice extension in catslide to left.
Interior:- Original doors and fitted furnishings, wooden lintels to fireplaces
and wooden floors, designed by Ernest Gimson.
