This house resembles Deer Park Cottage, Ashburnham Place, in the Parish of Catsfield,
and Church Farm in the Parish of Penhurst and is clearly by the same architect
or builder. L-shaped early C17 house. The main front faces East and is of
red brick on an ashlar base with long and short stone quoins and stringcourse.
Tiled roof. Gabled brick porch with a round-headed stone archway. Gable to
east wing. Casement windows with diamond-shaped leaded panes, the 2 windows
on ground floor having 2 tiers of 5-lights with stone mullions. 2 storeys
and attic in gable. 4 windows. The West front is of ashlar. It has a gable
at its South end with below it, 2 windows of 2 tiers of 5-lights, some blocked.
Two ashlar chimney breasts each with 2 diagonally-set brick stacks. Blocked
4-centred stone doorway. The South front has a brick chimney breast with 3
diagonally-set brick stacks. There are a number of blocked windows at various
points round the house. The interior, which was a good one, was mostly gutted
by fire in 1948.
