Barcombe Church
The Beeches
TQ 41 SW 10/138

C18, altered C19. Two storeys and attic. The original portion had 5 windows
and 2 dormers, to which 2 window-bays have been added to the north. Stuccoed.
Moulded wooden eaves cornice. Slate roof. Glazing bars intact on 1st floor
only. In centre of ground floor is a verandah with trellised iron columns
and domed canopy. To south of it is a large later bay on ground floor only
and to north a later projection on both floors. On east or garden front is
a small porch with fluted Ionic columns. George Wigney of Wigney and Sons'
Brewery, Brighton, lived here about 1825-35.
